Caution - 13%

After a recent vehicle fatality at the base of Mt Macedon new gradient cautionary signs have been erected.  These signs are displayed during the final 1.6 Km decent of the Mount.  Rumour has it that it's the same gradient on the way up too ;)  The first sign (13% gradient) is at the front of the Mount Macedon Primary School.  Approximately 600 M down is the second sign (7% next 1 Km) which takes you to the start of the accent of the Mount.

Bring on the hills

With the Audax Alpine Classic less then a week away many Sunbury riders begin to taper there training. On the other hand, with less then a week away many Sunbury riders begin there training ;) As always Sunbury has a good following for the Alpine Classic with John Marcan, Chris Hitchen, Tom Probert, Mark Ukotic, Andrew Wilson, and many more...

Unfortunately John Argue who was keenly looking forward to the Alpine Classic for many months has had to pull out due to medical reasons. Sunbury wishes John a speedy recovery.

7th Annual Pedallers to Purgatory Ride

To those I haven't caught up with yet this year, happy new one!. The 7th annual 'Pedallers to Purgatory' ride is on again on Saturday 13/1/08. Who knew when we started this humble event 7 years ago, that it would still be humble all these years later!!! LOL....but seriously, for those unaware of what this is all about, it started off as a hilly 'ish' warmup ride for a few of us doing the Alpine Classic. The route takes in Baringo, Woodend, Trentham, across the dividing range to Blackwood, Myrniong & drops down into Bacchus Marsh, Merrimu, Tollernvale & home. Distance around 140km, with plenty of hills (none overly taxing). Pace is 'comfortable' with a lunch stop at a bakery. This year, for something different, we've decided on reversing the route....so off to Bacchus Marsh 1st. Leaving 'Pedallers West' bike shop (hence the ride name) at 7.00AM (to avoid the worst of the summer heat)...all welcome.....so strap on ya climbing boots!. Any queries, drop me line,

cheers,

Chris Hitchen
